Welcome to Academic Advising at Northwood Temple Academy! I have served in the field of education for almost twenty years—as a teacher, program coordinator, counselor, and administrator. My experience, education, and most importantly desire to follow the Lord led me to Northwood Temple Academy. NTA provides the biblical truths and academic rigor that are necessary to be successful in the competitive world beyond high school. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the assistant principal and provide academic advising at NTA.

The mission statement of NTA states that we are “developing kingdom leaders.” Developing requires a clear and purposeful plan of preparing students to be successful at the college or career they are called to following high school. This process is a journey, not a sprint. The destination is arrived at through prayer and preparation. One of NTA’s core objectives for spiritual growth is “to guide students in knowing, comprehending, and applying the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith in order to apply them to all future life decisions.” Post high school planning is one of the first major life decisions students will make.

My goal in Academic Advising at Northwood Temple Academy is to provide guidance, resources, and support to parents and students as they prepare for college and careers. The first step in this process is seeking God’s will for the next chapter and prayerfully following in His direction. Proverbs 16:9 (NIV) states, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.” HIS plan is unique for each student, and the resources provided here are tools to assist with some of the most common steps in this journey. They are selected to be tools in the process, but not an exclusive support. The Academic Advising Office at NTA is available to provide individualized support, direction, and encouragement from a licensed experienced school counselor. Many resources included are from College Board (www.collegeboard.com), College Foundation of North Carolina (www.cfnc.com), and Fast Web (www.fastweb.com). I encourage students and families to visit these websites and access the resources and tools available to them.

Thank you for partnering with NTA for the Christian education of your child. I am excited to walk through the years of college and career planning with your family!

With a full heart,

Tracy Rowland
