Re-enrollment 2020-21

January 24, 2020

Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift?

the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?

Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows

are the children of a vigorous youth.

Oh, how blessed are you parents,

with your quivers full of children!

Psalm 127 (MSG)

I want to take the opportunity to commend you for choosing Christian Education. Children are God’s greatest gift and we should not take for granted the responsibility to raise children who love the Lord with all of their heart, mind and soul! Your children will spend 16,000 hours in school from kindergarten through twelfth grade and according to Dr. Edward Gamble, they will graduate with two important things: a diploma and some kind of worldview. He goes on to say that while the diploma will help get them into college or perhaps their first job, the worldview will shape every choice they make for the next 60 to 80 years. Decisions about relationships, faith, business, personal habits and even politics will conform to the worldview they formed during those 16,000 hours in school. It is the mission of Northwood Temple Academy to help develop and foster a Biblical worldview that will become a lens in which your child looks at all of life.

Re-enrollment begins this week. I encourage you to re-enroll early in order to reserve your spot. This year we had to close enrollment for grades 2nd through 4th and also 6th and 8th. We are operating this year almost at capacity. We experienced the highest enrollment in the history of Northwood Temple Academy. We give God the glory and praise!

All returning students will be automatically re-enrolled for the 2020-2021 academic year. Students will not be considered enrolled until the registration fee is paid. This fee will be applied to your FACTS account under the 2020-2021 school year. It is important to let the main office know if any family information has changed, such as address, telephone numbers or medical information.

Please take note that early registration will only run from January 24 through March 31! So if you want to take advantage of the discounted application fee you will need to re-enroll by March 31, 2019! Tuition and fees for the 2020-2021 school year are attached to this message.

Will you help us fill all the seats for the 2020-2021 school year by inviting your neighbors and family to come to Open House on February 20th? Stop in the main office to pick up some promotional cards to share with others. Stop by the office to find out how you can receive free tuition for one child next year!

Thank you,

Happy Thanksgiving Season

November 15, 2019

Happy Thanksgiving Season!

But if someone who is supposed to be a Christian has money enough to live well,

and sees a brother in need, and won’t help him—how can God’s love be within him?

1 John 3:17 LB

Giving is becoming a lost virtue in our applauded self-actualized post-Christian culture. The self-actualized

mindset has greatly affected the heart of our children. Even in Christian School we often have to give our students something (free dress-down day, free PJ day) in order for them to participate in giving to someone else.

I really do not want to do that this year! Over the next few weeks you will have the opportunity to have conversations in your home about the truth of the verse above! I am encouraging all NTA families to discuss

with their children the Biblical truth of giving. They will have many opportunities to put that truth to practice over the next few weeks at NTA! You might have already received information about Harvest Train and

how we support Falcon Children’s Home by giving through Harvest Train. Each class will be asked to bring a

certain commodity to meet a need at the children’s home! Middle and high school parents please encourage

your children to use their own money, to perhaps give up a Starbuck’s Coffee, in order to meet this need.

I hope we have a bus load of items to take to Falcon Children’s Home on November 26th!

All through the Thanksgiving and Christmas Season there will be other opportunities for your children to

give. Some classes adopt a child from Falcon Children’s Home, while other classes help with toy drives for

children who will not have a Christmas. There will be opportunities to serve, such as packing food baskets

and visiting the Veteran’s Home.

God calls us to love not only in word but in deeds, “My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue,

but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:18 Let’s work together to teach our children to have a heart of thanksgiving and a spirit of giving to others!

I pray God’s richest blessings over you and your families! May this Thanksgiving season remind us of all we

have to be thankful!

Love Your School Out Loud

Precious Parents,

Do you know what the number one marketing strategy is for any product or place? If you answered by naming any social media forum believe it or not, you are incorrect. While these strategies are very important and do generate interest they are not the most effective. It is the time of the year when we invite families to visit Northwood Temple Academy during Open House. We will use social media as a tool to get them in the door but what will inspire them to choose NTA for their children? Authors Keller and Fay in their book, The Face-to-Face Book stated in their marketing research, “While the growth of social networking sites is impressive, the largest social gold mine is literally right beneath our noses: in the word-of-mouth conversations that happen in our kitchens and living rooms, in our churches and synagogues, next to the office water cooler, on the sidelines of youth soccer and baseball games, powered by the intimacy of face-to-face communications.” In other words, YOU are the greatest inspiration for encouraging a prospective family to choose NTA for their children!  Loving your school out loud is the most powerful marketing strategy available! Many of you have shared your NTA story with me but would you be willing to “Love Your School Out Loud” with your friends, family and neighbors?

If so, I have two ways that you can “Love Your School Out Loud.”  The first way is to pick up ten Open House invitations and pass them out to people in your sphere of influence. The second is to sign up to give tours and share your NTA story with families that attend Open House on January 25th and February 22nd. You would not have to commit to the entire day but perhaps a couple of hours. Some of you have already committed to help and I am deeply appreciative. You can pick up the invitations in the main office as well as sign up to give tours. Thank you for “Loving NTA Out Loud!”

Welcome back!

And the Lord added to their number day by day….

Acts 2:47

Precious Parents,

Welcome to all the new families and welcome back to all of our returning families! What an amazing start to the 2018-2019 school year! It is so wonderful to hear all the noises of children in the hallways again! The Lord has blessed NTA with a great increase in enrollment this year and we are so grateful for the opportunity to serve more children! Our physical plant can only hold approximately 450 students from pre-school through twelfth grade and we are at almost at 420 students! Much of this growth took place in the two weeks before school started which resulted in growing pains. Changes were needed in the master schedule to accommodate more students and that led to the need for extra full and part-time faculty. The ladies in the front office worked diligently (well past closing time) to enter all of the new families into RenWeb before the start date of school so that teachers could have correct rosters and no student’s name would be left off of a class list! Again, all of this in a couple of weeks before school started!

Another area of the campus that has been impacted by the sudden growth is pick-up and drop-off areas. We are working to make it as smooth as possible but with more children it is going to take extra time and patience. Please note that numbered parking spaces near the school are assigned to student drivers. It has been our experience over the years that pick-up gets faster with time as families get accustomed to the procedures and patterns. I am asking returning families and new families to be patient with one another and with NTA faculty while in the line picking up your children. Your children’s safety is our main priority and concern. I can assure you that we are assessing the amount of time drop-off and pick-up is taking and will make any necessary changes needed to make it as smooth as possible.

We are so thankful that you chose NTA to partner with you in the education of your children.

Grateful,

R McLamb

Welcome to NTA

WELCOME TO NORTHWOOD TEMPLE ACADEMY!

“I urge you to contend for the truth that was entrusted to the saints.
— Jude 2:3

It is my sincere pleasure to be able to “contend for truth” on a daily basis at Northwood Temple Academy. I must admit that it is becoming a most difficult job in our postmodern culture. Our precious children are barraged everyday with discerning what truth is and many have come to the place where they question whether or not absolute truth even exists! The mainstream media, the entertainment industry, as well as, the secular education system continue to teach and proclaim that truth is whatever you desire to make it. What is most frightening about this statement is that Jesus himself said in John 18:37, “In fact, for this reason I came into this world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” If our children do not believe that absolute truth exists, truth that never changes, truth that is not relative to our situation, how can they listen to the One that declared He is the truth? I do not mind admitting that I am deeply burdened for our children. I spend countless nights in prayer over this generation of youth for I deeply and passionately want them to know “Truth.” Any education system that teaches Genesis 1:1 is not truth will not teach that Genesis 2 through Revelation 22 is true. Why do I make such a big deal over this issue? It is a matter of life and death! Our children need to, NO, must, believe in “Truth.” Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to Father except through me.”

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your commitment in making Christian schooling a priority! Northwood Temple Academy values your decision and will strive to offer your child a quality Christ-centered education.

Please take the time to read and become familiar with the Handbooks for Parents and Students. It will provide information regarding the policies and procedures of Northwood Temple Academy. These handbooks are not intended to be a definitive, comprehensive statement on all Academy-related matters, but it will answer frequently asked questions.

So the next generation will know,

New Elementary Principal Announcement

Northwood Temple Academy is committed to providing a Christ-centered education that promotes excellence in teaching and learning, focusing on high academic standards, excellence in fine arts, emotional well-being, and physical strength. We are nurturing today’s children and developing tomorrow’s Kingdom leaders.

Dear Parents,

Every time that I read the NTA mission statement I am reminded of the great responsibility we have as a school in shaping  generations to come into leaders, not just ordinary leaders, but Kingdom leaders. Due to my long tenure at NTA, I have enjoyed watching hundreds of young men and women become Kingdom leaders in their families and in their careers and callings. Developing Kingdom leaders is hard work and especially in the post-modern culture in which we currently live.  It requires faculty and administrators who are themselves Kingdom leaders and who have a deep passion to pass that on to the next generation.

While interviewing candidates for the elementary principal position, I just did not see the passion for the hearts of children. God is always faithful and He already had the person in place to become the new K – 8thgrade principal. This person has served at NTA since 1996 and has demonstrated real passion for the hearts and minds of children. I have always been impressed with her driving commitment to excellence. She is uncompromising in her quest for quality Christian education. She is an articulate and effective communicator. There are many dedicated leaders in education. There are also leaders who, because of their commitment to Christian education and students, must be considered outstanding. I have observed her leadership skills and her administrative style for over twenty years. She has demonstrated passion, excellence, love and loyalty to Northwood Temple Academy. It is my pleasure to announce Mrs. Janet Wright as K – 8th grade principal.
